Codrington of Dodington

Giles (d. 1577)

He was the son of Francis Codrington of Frampton-on-Severn and Margaret, daughter of William Shipman of Bristol. He married Isabel (d. 1590), daughter of Arthur Porter of Llanthony by his second wife Anne, daughter of William Denys of Dyrham and widow of Sir John Berkeley:

His wife's will also refers to a daughter Rosell.

He held a capital messuage in Pucklechurch, where he was living when he made his will. His widow was living in Bristol, when she wrote her will and asked to be buried with her mother in Gaunt's chapel.

Richard (d. 1613) Brother

He purchased Dodington from Lord Powis. He married Joyce (d. 1635), daughter of John Borlase of Little Marlow, Bucks:


Samuel (1599-1676) Son

He married Elizabeth (d. 1687), daughter of Thomas Stephens of Lypiatt.

After the death of his son he sold Dodington to his kinsman Christopher Codrington (1668-1710), whose branch of the family had prospered in the West Indies.
