He married Mary, daughter of Richard Browne of Frome Parva, Herefs.:

His will (TNA PROB 11/65/85) was concerned primarily with settling an estate on his younger son.


Richard Wood (d. 1598) Son

He married

  1. Anne, daughter of Thomas Hale of Tuffley
  2. Mary, daughter of John Cooke
  3. Cicely, daughter of John Mayney of Biddenden, Kent

Either Mary or Cicely was previously married to Christopher Westerdale (d. 1585), whose son Thomas was buried at Brookthorpe in 1590 and whose daughter Anne was left a legacy in his will. He also died indebted to Harry Westerdale. The will also refers to his brother-in-law Thomas Gardiner of Painswick, but by whose marriage they were related is not clear.

He left his estate encumbered with a substantial list of debts.


Richard (c1572-1636) Son

He matriculated at University College, Oxford in 1592 and gained his BA from Christ Church in 1597. He married Anne (d. 1650), daughter of Walter Vaughan of Hergest, Herefs. Her brother John and her sister Sible, who married Sir Rowland St John KB, were remembered in her husband's will.

Their children were:

The couple were sufficiently properous to enjoy the luxury of a coach. In her will Anne refers to her grandchildren as nieces and nephews.


Silvanus (1604-1675) Son

He married Bridget, daughter of Richard Cresheld of Evesham, Worcs.:

A justice of the peace during the Interregnum, he sat for Gloucestershire in the Protectorate parliament in 1654. His widow was still alive in April 1679, when her daughter Bridget wrote her will.


Rowland (1638 - 1701) Son

He was educated at Balliol, Oxford and Lincoln's Inn. He married Elizabeth Hodges of Shipton Moyne in 1668.

After Rowland's death, his widow renounced the administration of his will in favour of their son Thomas.
