Will of Arabella Pulteney

In the name of God Amen, I the Lady Arabella Pulteney of the parish of St George and Liberty of Westminster in the County of Middlesex being of perfect mind and memory And calling to mind and duely considering the uncertainty of this life make this my last Will and Testament. Imprimis I committ my soule into the hands of my blessed Maker, trusting in his mercies and in the merites of my deare Saviour and Redeemer for the remission of all my sinnes. My body I next committ to the Earth to be decently and privately buryed in the same manner as my dear husband Mr Pulteney was And I desire my body may be laid as neare Mr Pulteneys Coffin as they can according to his last desire in St James Church And that the Funerall charges may not exceed Twenty pounds. As for my temporall Estate I give an dispose of it as follows (vizt) I give to her Grace the dutchess of Cleevland my Ring sett round with small diamonds. I give to my sister Lady Clifford my brother Barclays picture and two China Ewers with silver guilt. [Deleted section] I give to my Nephew Sir Barclay Lucy his Mothers picture. I give to my Lady Lucy a paire of pearle Earrings sett round with diamonds. To my Neece Moore Eldest sonn I give a Ring of my haire sett as Mr Benetts was. To my Neece Ann Powlett I leave Mr Benetts haire Ring. To my Neece Barclay wife of Henry Barclay Esq. I leave two old China Bottles and a Agate knife. I give to Mrs Hambden my small sett of silver handle Knives and forks. [Deleted section]

I leave to Mrs Hebburne my velvett Hood and laid hood velvett scarfe and velvett Cloake. I give to Mr Blake the small picture of our Saviour. I leave to my servant John if liveing with me at my death Five pounds and a monthe dyett And to my Woman house Maid and Cooke Maid if they have lived with me two yeares I leave one quarters wages and a months dyett. I give and bequeath five pounds to the poore of the parish of St George Westminster And five more to the parish of Epsome in the County of Surrey both summes to be paid in six months after my decease. I leave a paper to be delivered to my sister Clifford and to be executed according to the directions therein contained. Lastly I make and appoint my daughter Elizabeth whole and sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament In wittness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the 11th of Aprill 1727.

Appeared personally Elizabeth Pulteney spinster the naturall and lawfull daughter and Executrix of the last Will and Testament of the Right Honourable Lady Arabella Pulteney late of the parish of St George Hannover Square in the County of Middlesex deceased and by vertue of the Corporall Oath deposed that she was present att the late dwelling of the said deceased scituate in the parish of St George Hannover Square aforesaid soone after the deceaseds death when the last Will and Testament of the said deceased hereunto annexed ... was broke open and thta the severall obliterations and interlineations now appearing to be in the said Will were therein att the time the said Will was broke open as aforesaid Eliz. Pulteney 5to May 1729
